Little Sister

So Garrett and I did a little shopping today on the way home from the hospital. Here's what we bought...

Yep...it's a girl! (Don't worry--I'm an equal opportunity mother and Garrett also picked himself out some fuzzy circus animal jammies.)

To be completely honest, we've kind of been hoping all along for another boy. We already have everything, Garrett would have a little buddy, we've got the boy thing down, had a name all picked out, less drama/hairspray/make-up, etc. However, I got to the hospital early today and while I was waiting for Greg, I went to the gift shop and started looking at all the frilly little girl things. Of course, I started thinking about how fun it would be to have a baby girl...and the rest is history! I honestly couldn't be any more thrilled.

When we had Garrett, the female ultrasound tech checked the gender very first thing and we knew right away. This guy said he likes to check everything first and make sure the baby is healthy and then check for gender at the very end. PLEASE!!! I told him that only a man would do that to a new mom, and he just laughed. Thankfully, the baby is looking great and growing right on schedule--maybe even a day or two early.

This puts Garrett being the only boy cousin on both sides. It's a good thing he's such a manly man, but we would love some more boy cousins...any takers???

One more thing, what are we going to name this baby? ARGH! I had a name I really liked, but Greg said it reminded him too much of a crazy girl from his home ward, so we're not sure. Any suggestions???

We're so excited for you! She's going to be adoreable! Plus, now you won't be the only girl in your little family. Congrats! And Garrett will still love to play with his little sister, lucky for you, she'll probably be less of a girl because Gus will be dragging her all over the place and she'll love the dirt and outdoors just like him. I think i'd take that kind of girl any day.

Crazy girl from the home ward? You couldn't have been a little more specific? Your hint describes 99% of the home ward girls Nat... Mallory is the 1% remaining...

Congratulations! I am so excited that you are having a girl too! I felt the same way about the name though...we had a boy name picked out too. It really is fun to dress up a cute little girl and have one pink room in the house!

Having a boy and a girl is lots of fun, a little bit of everything each day! Don't worry, you still have a few months to come up with a name, I have a book if you want to borrow it :)

Congrats!!! I LOVE having one of each...a girl is a LOT different from a boy, but I wouldn't trade either for anything...you will LOVE it....how exciting:)

I think the name thing is hard, because after i throw out the too common, too trendy, belonging to someone myself or my husband dislike or disliked, it seems like you're left going.... now what?!

I'm so excited!! Kelly says if you name her Kelly Kathleen she will spoil her rotten so that would solve the problem of having to by new things for a girl :)

YAY! A girl. You will have tons of fun. We felt the same way when we were having our second. A boy would be easier, but little baby girls are stinkin' cute. If we ever get to live near each other, we will have little buddies on our hands with both boys and girls not being so much different in age.

I quite like the big brother/little sister combination. Congratulations! Good luck thinking of a name. It never occurred to me that husbands might have opinions about such things too!

Obviously you will name her Marlee.

Guaranteed Nat wanted to name the baby Elizabeth. I don't remember her being that crazy, but then again I am 10 years younger than Greg. I vote you name her Mallory Phillips the Younger

Yes, girl clothes are the best! I like to call little girls pepto bismol babies because they should be drenched in pick! (And I am wondering what the name was you liked. I have to go over the list in my mind of saved names. Hmmm...)
