Daddy Day Care

I'm pretty sure I did a post with this same title about 2 years ago. Greg was watching Garrett and fell asleep and our darling one-year-old Garrett wrecked havoc on our little apartment while I was gone and Greg slept.

You know how they say history repeats itself...here goes.

Garrett and I went to the USU volleyball game tonight with Eric and Gini to support Gini's sister who plays on the team. Our original plan was for all of us to go, but Greg had been up since 5 AM and was tired, so he talked me into taking Garrett while he stayed home with Abby. Garrett and I had a great little "date" and I texted Greg after the game to see how things were going. Here is his response:

"We're good. I fell asleep and Abby just took care of herself for awhile. A bit ago she was crying and woke me up because she had locked herself in the bathroom. So I got her out and then she wanted meat and cheese, so I fed her cheese and a banana and a corn dog and she was ready for bed. She just went down 15 minutes ago and I haven't heard a peep, so I am in bed now too."

Wow. I do appreciate the honesty, but there are some things I would rather not know. Maybe next time he could just respond with something like, "Things are good and we're both in bed."

P.S. Sorry about the lack of pictures. Technical difficulties!

Fall Fun!!!

We have been loving Fall! We've finally had a week or two of good weather and we've been living it up and trying to soak in every minute of sunshine and fun before the snow flies...

In case you aren't aware, Garrett is kind of obsessed with witches and all things Halloween. Abby has picked up on this and gets excited every time she sees a witch (or "bitchies") as she calls them. (Sorry...I try to keep this blog G-rated, but I crack up every time she says it. We've tried to teach her to say it right, but it's useless, so we just laugh.)

We met our good friends, Lisa and cute little Camden, at Gardner Village. The kids LOVED seeing the witches and Halloween decor.

We've spent lots of hours at the park the past few weeks...it makes me sad to think our good play days are limited. :(

I probably shouldn't even post these pictures, but I can't resist. We were at my sister's house and Garrett found Brooklyn's witch costume and the rest is history...

We've made the pilgrimage to Park City for our annual UEA trip. I haven't had the camera out much, but I did get this cute one of Abby. This little brown-eyed girl sure keeps us on our toes!

Jan is such a good sport and took all the kids "swimming" in the hot tub. Garrett's little grin in this picture is priceless! (Oops! I forgot to fix Gracie's red eyes in this picture.)

Here are some fun videos: Garrett telling how to make a Witches' Brew, Abby showing off her animal sounds, and Garrett's Witch Debut.

First Sunday Dinner

For as long as anybody can remember, Greg's mom's side of the family meets on the first Sunday of every month for dinner and Family Home Evening. It's a great tradition and has really kept the family close over the years. We met at Grandma and Grandpa Riddle's house today and the younger generation of cousins had so much fun playing together outside. Garrett is getting old enough to tag-along with the big kids and they were so sweet to let him pal around with them. He pretty much idolized Carson all night and Carson was really nice to him, so I think it's safe to say Garrett had a fantastic day.

As for Abby, she had a fabulous time as well. It's never occured to her that she's younger than the rest of the kids and probably not able to keep up with them, so she also tagged along with them and thoroughly enjoyed herself.

**These pictures are less than great, but the best I could do with a group of wild and crazy children who don't exactly specialize in holding still!

The sprinklers turned on and I finally gave up trying to keep the kids out of them...

Abby decided to take a nice little nap on the driveway and dry herself off.
