Abby Kirilenko...and a little TMI

QUESTION: What do Abby and Andre have in common?

ANSWER: The same hairstyle.

The little stinker won't leave any accessories in her hair these days, which means she spends most of her time looking like AK47. Her hair is either mopped against her head like Andre looks in the above picture, or sticking straight up in the air--kind of like AK looks at the end of a game after he's run his fingers through it a few times.

Now for the TMI: If you look closely at the picture of Abby, you may notice she has a lovely bruise on her forehead. (You may also be able to infer she's her daddy's girl and really likes Oreos.)

I was in the middle of changing my clothes when Garrett came running in. He is a tease and likes to "get me" and then run away and wait for us to chase him. He "got me" and then ran out of the room. As he was rounding the corner, I heard a big thud and then heard Abby scream. I ran out partially dressed (in my undies) and found her lying face down on the carpet next to the wall. She had done the initial scream and was still trying to catch her breath so she could wail again when I picked her up. (I figure she must have been rounding the corner just as Garrett was and they collided and she flew into the wall and smacked her head on the baseboard.) Poor kid. I tried to comfort her and Garrett stood there looking quite distraught and said, "I just killed Abby." And then he looked at me and yelled, "Mom, get your pants on." TMI, I know, but it was awfully funny.

Note for those readers not from the techno-abbreviating era: TMI stands for "Too Much Information"

A Happy Easter Was Had By All!

Easter of 2011 was a dandy! I posted about a billion pictures and they're a bit random. I was getting pictures off two different cameras and they uploaded kinda funky. Normally, I would spend an hour putting them all in order because I'm a bit OCD that way, but tonight I have a new book I'm dying to crack open and a bubble bath calling my name, so random pics it is!

ENJOY!

Eric Graduated...and We Missed It!

Recipe for missing your brother-in-law's graduation:
  • Spend all of the previous day at a wedding with wild and worn out kids
  • Garrett is so excited to be at Grandma and Grandpa's house that he doesn't go to sleep until almost midnight
  • Greg has to work, which means taking the kids to the ceremony by myself
  • Forget the double stroller, which means trusting Garrett to walk and stay close to me on busy streets and in massive crowds while I push Abby
  • Graduation starts at 8:00 AM, but we're supposed to fight the Provo traffic and be seated by 7:30 AM
Needless to say, we didn't quite make it to the ceremony, but did meet up with our favorite grad after.

The boys celebrated with a fishing trip to Scofield Reservoir while the gals had delightful naps at Brian and Cathy's place. A perfect Graduation day...minus us missing the ceremony, of course.

Look closely, Brian caught a big one!

Josh and Rebecca are Married!

YAY! What a fun day. I love weddings and this month has been full of good ones!

Thank you to Uncle Eric who took Garrett to Cabela's while we were at the temple and thank you to Amy for babysitting Abby! Abby was being a bit of a stinker, so it was nice to only have one kid to chase for a portion of the day.

The handsome groom, everybody's favorite 2nd cousin (Shannon), and my sweetheart. Love them all!

Their reception was at Highland Gardens in American Fork. They had the most amazing indoor garden room and Garrett felt like we were living in "The Jungle Book." He had the time of his life and kept trying to crawl in the plants and act like various jungle animals.

Yes, I realize he's wearing a shark jacket to a wedding reception. He had a nicer shirt on underneath, but he loves the jacket and it had been a LONG day, and I decided to heed the oft-given parenting advice and "choose my battle." I opted not to choose that battle and let him wear the blasted jacket. Everybody was happy.

Boy, oh boy, this man of mine is turning into the quite the gem. (That sounds bad, he's always been a gem, but he's been through the refiner's fire of life with me and he is POLISHED!) I mentioned earlier that I LOVE weddings. Remember the law you learned in science class: For every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction??? Greg would be the "opposite and equal reaction" in our case. He loathes weddings every bit as much as I love them.

We've had two weddings in the past two weeks. And we're talking the whole day affair: luncheons, ceremonies, pictures, receptions, more pictures, you know the drill. To make it even better, Greg has been a groomsman at both weddings, which means he got to wear a PINK tie at the last one and a PURPLE one tonight. His two favorite colors in two weeks...and he's still smiling and didn't even complain once.
I think he looks good in purple...

It must be a sign that I'm getting old, but I love the mom and dad pictures almost as much as I love the bride and groom photos. So sweet!

And speaking of sweet, these two lovely ladies are both available and they are beautiful!
I've always had a thing for yellow, so I totally LOVED their dresses.

Josh frequently comes up to visit and he even stayed with us during the summer a few years ago, so my family also knows and loves Josh and Becca. They came down to the reception and Garrett so thrilled to see his beloved Grace. He grabbed her hand and took her immediately to see the "jungle."
And that's it. Mucho thanks to Josh and Becca for letting us be a part of their special day!

Coming soon: Eric's college graduation. And by soon, I mean REALLY soon. Like tomorrow morning at 8 AM. I better get to bed...
