The Big Hunt

The mighty hunter has returned, bearing meat for our table and a few pics.

The little guy and I spent last weekend on the mountain with Greg. Our car is currently in the shop getting some body work done (some idiot ran into us), so I borrowed my brother-in-law Eric's car to get up there. We got away late and it was dark when we got into the canyon. The highlight of the trip for me was when I saw something in my peripheral vision, just in time to hear a nice thud. A deer ran into the side of the car. Nice--my car is getting fixed, so I wreck my brother-in-law's car. Needless to say I was a bit nervous to examine the wreckage, but we definitely lucked out in that the only damage was a cracked hubcap. PHEW!

As could be expected, the G-Man had the time of his life and is definitely a born camper. (He gets that from his dad.) He explored the mountains, consumed massive amounts of dirt, and had some great four-wheeler rides.

Killer boots, man! We've been wanting to get Garrett some little cowboy boots for awhile now--he loves to wear Greg's--but the cheapest ones I've been able to find were $55. In a former life (like before I had kids), I would have probably bought them, but I'm way too cheap now. I found this little beauties at Wally's World for a reasonable $13. WAHOO!

Greg and his hunting buddy/cousin Chris.

Any guesses what this track might belong to? It's so comforting to know my husband is sharing living quarters with BEARS!

And finally, the reason for all the madness: The dead elk. (Sorry to all animal lovers.)

Greg and dead animal #1. (I'm just grateful it doesn't have antlers so we won't have to fight/have a loving discussion over whether this beast will hang in our house or Greg's/our shed.)

Eric and dead animal #2.
Next up is the muzzleloader deer hunt. I can hardly wait. Neither can Greg.

Now, that's a woman...to stand by your hunger of a husband's side even in the midst of bears...
