Little Buckaroo

I've been seeing pictures of "Baby Animal Days" on lots of blogs and have been feeling bad we missed it--mostly due to the fact that Garrett LOVES animals. I've never seen a kid who loves animals like him. (Okay, I've only had one kid, so that might have something to do with it, but he really does love animals!) Horses and dogs are his favorites, so I was thrilled when Greg called me on Saturday and told me to bring Garrett over to the barn, because my sister-in-law Chelsea's horse had delivered a colt.

Here's Chelsea with the little mister.

Greg, Garrett, and Lucky (the proud mama)

Garrett couldn't get enough of the little thing--he just kept squealing and patting it. It was so cute!
Garrett even managed to steal a swig of "the good stuff" while mommy wasn't looking. (I turned around with the camera to take a picture of Garrett petting one of the horses, and this is what I found instead.) What a great day for the little guy--a new colt and DC.

Garrett has a fascination with long handles. His favorite thing at home to play with BY FAR is the broom. It only took him about two seconds in the barn to find this hay fork and the two reds were pretty much inseparable for the rest of the day.

And now, the moment you've all been waiting for. Garrett's debut as a bareback star! We'll see you in about 20 years at the NFR. :) Enjoy!

What a cutie! I missed baby animal days too. Someone told me that you can still go and see/hold the animals, just all of the booths and everything aren't there. I'm taking my kids tomorrow, it is the last day.

That is so cute! Colts are the cutest little things! I need to get the gals over there to see the colt. Gotta love Gar carrying around the hay fork.

We went to baby animal days this year, and it was SO cold! Kaleb did good for a little while and then he just wanted to sit on the tractor the rest of the time...imagine that! Hopefully it will be warmer next year, I'm sure Garrett will love it!

Priceless!! What a great mom (mare) to let you handle her colt like that and even get on its back! Loved all the pictures even Garrett with the 'pooper scooper'. He can come clean our stalls any day!! Cute family!!!!!! Thanks for coming to the rodeo on Friday night!!

So cute! Brooms were Kjeaton's favorite at that age, too! They still are...I give him the swiffer dry sweeper and he gets the wood floors fairly clean! Never to early to get them to help out!

I'm guessing baby animal days is some sort of red neck tradition. You guys are my favorite small town folk. Tell Greg I'm gonna be all over him like a spider monkey, he'll know what sort of beating that entails...

The last picture before the video, please notice how he's like a chubby little man with teeny tiny feet. He's just too cute. I can't wait to see you guys!

It looks like Garrett had more fun here than Baby Animal Days anyway. He is so cute!

No worries about Thursday. We can't always be everywhere:) Sounds like you were having way more fun anyway! We need to get together for dinner or something one of these days.
